TOUT COMMUNE LA DAN’L

The Project

The Haitian peasantry is the driving force and productive support of the Haitian Economy. The members and the Executive Committee of our project intend to create a loan counter to allow the farmers to be more productive and the local communities to be on the path to

prosperity and most importantly to self-sufficiency.

The counter will operate according to the Grameen Bank model as established by Mohamed Yunus in Bagladesh in the 1970’s. This model has been reproduced in other countries and has experienced much success due to timely reimbursement of the awarded

loans and to the improvement in the standard of living of those loans beneficiaries. TCLD loan counters will eventually be establish in all 135 communes of Haiti.

Local farmers and entrepreneurs will join as members and we will extend credit exclusively to members to make them more effective in their activities of cattle raising, sustainable agriculture, and other small business opportunities which will be available to them through our program. The TCLD project will work and collaborate with local elected officials in each communes. In early 2008 we launched our fund-raising campaign to raise the necessary funds for our project will. 70% of the funds will be invested directly into our micro-lending

program for the sustainable economic development of the commune and 40% will be allocated for the development infrastructure and for providing basic services such as potable water, health care, education, clean energy and communication services in collaboration

with the local government.

This type of investment in the basic infrastructure of these communes will encourage and empower both national and foreign investors to come and invest in these communes, they will be ready and capable of receiving these new investors in their communities. So

today we ask you to join this movement, be part of the solution to help us raise Haiti out of the state of extreme poverty and put Haiti on the path of selfsufficienty. “With Unity, hard work and discipline we can change the course of the downward spiral Haiti is

facing today and put the Haitian people on the path of self-sufficiency and forge their own destiny” To know more about the TCLD project or to make a Donation toward the project please visit www.oglhaiti.com/

Arcahaie is an historic town and at one point in the history of Haiti was one of the most important and influential town. Today Arcahaie has 7 Beach/hotels, 1 museum (Moulin sur Mer). Arcahaie is also known for its production of the tastiest plantains, 60% of their agricultural production. In 1750 Arcahaie became the official Capital of the colony. Because of its geographical location after the war of independence, Dessaline and his other generals chose Arcahaie as the central location for all political meetings. On May 18, 1803, in the city of Arcahaie, they agreed on an official flag , with blue and red bands placed vertically. Haiti’s first flag was sewn by a lady named Catherine Flon. On Independence Day however, January 1st 1804, the flag was modified again.

The Blue and Red bands were placed horizontally this time, with the blue band on top of the red band. This was the first flag of the independent republic. In 1805, shortly after Jean-Jacques Dessalines proclaimed himself emperor, the Haitian flag color was changed to black and red bands placed vertically respectively. After many tulmeotous episodes in Haiti’s history, the flag today is back to blue & Red.
