  • This year from January 28-22nd Tim Womick of the National Tree Trust in collaboration with Operation Green Leaves made environmental education presentations in 5 of OGL's partner schools, Little River Elementary, Oak Grove Elementary, Edison Middle School, Shadowlawn & Gratigny Elementary. Thepresentations included the planting of various native trees .

  • January 23rd, 1999 OGL organized a community Clean up in Little Haiti. Many other community based organizations participated. COIN, HAFI, SHAP, HAES, Little Haiti Net office. Law offices of Attorney Philip Brutus.

  • Operation Green Leaves became a member of the a National Park and Conservation Association. The association formed a council of which OGL is a member to help promote and encourage the participation of minorities in the National Parks.

  • OGL hosted a workshop for teachers on "butterfly Gardening" at Phyllis Miller Elementary .

  • Last February the OGL team traveled to Haiti to form a partership with a group of educators and professionals to provide environmental education and awareness in the 9 departments of Haiti. The committee was formed. Our first project was "Le festival de L'environment", a two month long celebration in June-May. This program will be an annual event. (See Pictures)

  • On March 12, 1999 OGL and Lanny Smith (The Earth Man) hosted an Earth Man concert at Toussaint Louverture Elementary.

  • March, 27, 1999 OGL organizes another Community Clean-up in collaboration with the Little Haiti Housing Association.

  • April 18, 1999 OGL celebrate Earth Day with its annual Earth Day Festival at Lemon City Park. At this annual event OGL Free food to the students, Trees and plants are donated, prizes were handed out to the winners of the literary and poster contest. it was a fund day for the entire family.

  • On May 15, 1999, OGL and Dade Heritage Trust sponsored a Little Haiti Tour. It was a successful and wonderful event. (2nd Year)

  • OGL and Returned Peace Corp Volunteers Association organized a beach Clean-up on June 12, 1999 . (see Picture)

  • June 19, 1999 OGL organizes a Community Clean-up/Tree planting in collaboration with Neighborhood United and various other local organizations and agencies. DERM, LITTLE HAITI NET OFFICE, SOLID WASTE & PUBLIC WORKS.

  • Last August 28, OGL hosted its 3rd annual "Fet Champet". The main act was the incredile Boukman Eksperyans also various wonderful local talents participated, Lucky Pierre & D'votion, Ayabombe, Loray Mistik, we also had brazilian singer "Angela Patu and Afro Cuban Dace group "Ife Ile".If you missed it this year be there next year on Saturday August 26, 2000 (see picture)

Project update
Operation Green Leaves Technical team will be traveling to the North West of Haiti next February 2000 to visit and establish 4 new partner communities. (Haut Moustique/Baie de la Conception and two sections of Jean-Rabel) We will also visit our current partner MOTION in Mole St. Nicolas.
